Data tier

DevForce applications work with data acquired from one or more data sources. A data source is usually a data store holding long-lived (persistent) data. The most typical data store is a relational database management system (RDBMS). 

DevForce itself has no role on the data tier and can work with any kind of data source although it is optimized to work with relational databases.
