Did you know?

Cocktail takes the pain out of developing enterprise applications in Silverlight or WPF. Cocktail leverages established patterns and practices, such as MVVM, and builds on DevForce’s rich data service capabilities.

Most recent

  • In response to customer requests, we’ve built a DevForce LINQPad driver that lets you use LINQPad with DevForce models. There's no need to struggle with the EF or Universal drivers or add namespaces and assemblies.
  • DevForce sends compressed binary messages between the EntityManager and the EntityServer. You can use our Fiddler extension to inspect these messages and debug your n-tier and Silverlight applications.
  • DevForce 6.1.5 is now available. LINQPad support, Code First improvements, and more.
  • DevForce 6.1.4 is now available. You can now specify a default EntityReferenceStrategy to globally control lazy loading and asynchronicity, use the .NET 4 Client Profile in your 2-tier WinClient applications and take advantage of a host of significant Code First improvements.
  • Have questions about what the release of Silverlight 5 means for DevForce? We've got answers in our Silverlight 5 FAQ.
  • Our WinForms Walkthrough shows how to bind a DevForce entity model using WinForms databinding.
  • What if your application must work with an existing database, perhaps with 300 tables or more? You can jump-start your code base by generating the initial classes from the database schema and then continue Code First from there. We call this approach Code Second.
  • “I am personally jazzed about the DevForce Code First approach. I like Code First because I think it can reduce the friction of developing and maintaining my entity model.” - Ward Bell, Never in Doubt

Take our Code First Walkthrough and see the advantages yourself.

  • DevForce 6.1.3 is now live! We now officially support Code First development, have a new EntityQueryPager class, and have improved your ability to build LINQ expressions on the fly with DevForce dynamic queries.
  • DevForce developers can now write their models in Code First style. Code First lets developers build their entity model classes without struggling with EDMX, visual designer, or database changes that put the model at risk. Code First is a welcome addition for developers who prefer to focus on their model and classes rather than the database.
  • We've written our fair share of offline-capable applications and we hope that you'll take these considerations into account before building your own offline-capable apps
  • Ward's Validation Lab explains several DevForce validation concepts and techniques using automated tests run within the Microsoft Unit Test framework.
  • A DevForce entity model that supports a .NET distributed client application can also be accessed in an HTML/JavaScript client using the DevForce OData APIs as we demonstrate in our OData.JS sample.
  • Visual Studio code snippets for DevForce 2010 Code First can speed development of your entity models, reducing tedium and errors.
